Stone and light, unhurried.
Sicily is where the studio travels furthest south and stays longest. The baroque towns of the Val di Noto, the Aeolian coast, Taormina above the sea — each has a different register of light and a different sense of time. Weddings here move slowly, under wide skies, in buildings that were old when photography was invented.
The island divides into several zones and they are not interchangeable. The north is green and vertical, with views that compress the distance. The south is flat and pale, with light that arrives earlier and stays longer. The baroque interior has a different colour entirely — amber and terracotta, walls that hold heat through the evening and release it after dark. The studio approaches each zone differently.
We travel to Sicily with a day's margin on either side and no fixed departure. The work here takes longer than the wedding does.

When is the best time of year to get married in Sicily?
April, May, and October are our first choice. The light in spring is clear without being harsh, and October has a warmth that photographs well — golden, unhurried. July and August are possible but demanding: midday ceremonies are difficult, and the heat shapes every decision from flowers to family portraits. September sits in between and often surprises: warm evenings, cooler mornings, and a landscape that has had all summer to dry into something beautiful.

Which Sicilian venues do you know well?
A few we've photographed or scouted recently: Villa Tasca, Palazzo Beneventano del Bosco, Tonnara di Scopello, Castello di Donnafugata, Villa Valguarnera. The island has more good venues than most planners list, and we're happy to share notes — which work in the late afternoon, which have generous shade, which require a permit for photography inside. Sometimes a short conversation is more useful than another round of online research.

Do you travel to Sicily for a single wedding?
Yes. Sicily is a full travel day from our base, so we arrive the day before and build a day of rest into the schedule after. The cost of travel — flights, accommodation, two nights minimum — is passed on at cost. For weddings of two days or with a significant pre-wedding shoot, we discuss the logistics in advance and find what works for both sides.
