North and south, two different lights.
Spain divides cleanly between north and south, and so does the studio's work there. In Catalonia and the Balearics, the light is Mediterranean and familiar — it photographs the way you'd expect. In Andalusia, it is something older: harder at midday, warmer at dusk, filtered through dust and heat in a way that changes the photographs.
The fincas of Mallorca, the cortijos of Jerez, the paradors that the state has placed inside historic convents and castles — Spain has a generosity with its architecture that makes venue-finding less difficult than elsewhere. There is almost always a room with the right light, a courtyard that catches the evening from the west, a terrace that needs nothing added to it.
The studio works Spain as it works anywhere: arrives early, stays close, says little. The afternoon light in September does most of the work. We simply don't stand in the way of it.

Which regions of Spain do you work in most?
Catalonia, Mallorca, and Andalusia are where most of our Spanish commissions take place. The Balearic light is Mediterranean and familiar — it photographs the way you'd expect. Andalusia is different: harder at midday, warmer at dusk, filtered through dust and heat in a way that changes everything. We've also worked in the Basque Country and Castile, and we're happy to share notes on any region you're considering.

What are the best venues for a wedding in Spain?
The paradors — state-owned historic buildings converted to hospitality — are some of the most interesting venues in Europe. Many have interiors that no private estate can match. Beyond those: private fincas in Mallorca and Andalusia, cortijos in Jerez, mas in Catalonia. Spain has a more generous relationship with private-estate weddings than France or Italy, which means more flexibility on timing and on access. We're happy to share notes on specific properties.

When is the best time of year to get married in Spain?
May, June, and September are the months most couples choose — the heat is present but not punishing, and the light in the evening is exceptional. July and August are possible in the north and the islands; in Andalusia they require significant planning around the midday heat. October is underrated across the whole country: the tourist pressure drops, the landscape has colour, and the afternoon light goes long and low in a way that makes most things look beautiful.
