To capture the beloved 'in-between' moments, allow time for spontaneity throughout your day. Avoid over-scheduling — instead, leave room to simply enjoy the company of your guests and the beauty of your venue. These relaxed periods are golden opportunities for us to capture the natural, unscripted interactions that make your photos uniquely memorable.
Plan for a brief couple's photo session during the golden hour — the last hour before sunset, when the light is soft and warm, ideal for romantic frames. This moment might coincide with your dinner; consider adjusting your schedule to step away briefly and capture this stunning light. A small break, a major difference.
For a distraction-free ceremony, consider an 'unplugged' approach — asking guests to put away their devices. This not only keeps your professional photos free from screens raised in the air, it also allows guests to fully engage in the moment, applauding and participating without the barrier of technology. Where possible, evaluate the necessity of visible microphones, stands and lecterns; in intimate settings these elements often detract from the aesthetic.
Bring along the full paper suite — invitation, envelope, wax seal, ribbons, save-the-dates. These details took weeks to design and they deserve their own quiet still life. Set them aside on the morning of the wedding so we can photograph them with the rings, the flowers, the perfume and the shoes, before the day fully begins.
Lighting is crucial at the reception — it transforms both the space and the photographs. Fairy lights and candles add a romantic glow, but candles burn out quickly and a slight breeze can extinguish them; consider hurricane glasses or wind-resistant alternatives to keep the candlelight effect intact. Integrating subtle additional lighting is often necessary to capture detailed and spontaneous moments. We are happy to advise.

If your wedding shoes are uncomfortable or too delicate for extended wear, bring a second comfortable yet stylish pair to change into for the photo session. The switch keeps you relaxed and free to move, navigating the terrain of your venue with ease — and the photographs are better for it.
The time of your ceremony — and the direction the aisle faces relative to the sun — significantly affects your photographs. Harsh midday sun creates hard shadows and squinting; a well-timed ceremony in softer light enhances both comfort and beauty. We are happy to help you plan these details to optimise the conditions.
